Projects Above Ground
Byrne has
provided many services for projects for refineries or mining complexes
above ground.
The following are some of Byrne's
recent projects:
|
Client
CVRD-Inco
Project: Dust
Collection Options for Filling Ladles for Floor Scrap |
|
Byrne performed an investigation on the
ladle filling process at the converter aisle section in the smelter
building for feasible solutions for dust containment. Some of these
solutions include:
- Wet down of scrap before ladle filling
- Various relocations for the filling process
- Duct the dust produced to an existing baghouse/new baghouse
- Changes in ladle and loader sizes to reduce amounts of dust
produced
For each option, a preliminary system
design and budget estimate was provided for each option. |

Project:
Structural Design for Mining Equipment
- Design and draft all structural steel for numerous pieces of
large equipment, including screens, bins crushers and other
associated equipment used at a underground diamond mine.
Client: Xstrata Nickel
Project: Confined
Space Access Improvements
- Design and implementation of access doors, safety lines,
retrieval systems, walkways and platforms. These are
required for proper and safe access to confined space at the
Roaster and Cottrell electrostatic precipitators.
Client: CVRD-Inco
Project: Asbestos
Investigation and Removal Plan
- Inspection of nine areas in a refinery for piping with
asbestos insulation. Each pipe was reviewed and classified for its
asbestos type, percent content and a hazard rank. Plan layout was
produced depicting locations of the asbestos piping and used for a
removal plan.
