Jiel SawczekoMr. Saweczko has many years experience as a Project Engineer for multi-disciplinary projects. His background is in structural engineering, although he has been exposed to a wide variety of projects involving not only structural and civil services, but also pollution control installations, heating and ventilation systems, controls and electrical power distribution.

He has worked on projects both in Canada and overseas.

Following graduation, Mr. Saweczko gained a background in steel fabrication, including detailing, preparation of layouts, design of many types of steel structures and preparation of erection schemes. He spent time in the design office, in the fabricating shop and on site working on the actual erection of projects.

Subsequently, he gained practical experience in the design of concrete buildings and foundations for many types of structures, including bridges, industrial and commercial buildings, grain storage facilities and retaining walls.

He has been in the consulting engineering field for over 30 years. His early experience included the design of facilities for industries engaged in processing and production of food, metallic ores, grain and cement.

As a manager and senior engineer for Byrne Engineering Inc., Mr. Saweczko has been responsible for a variety of industrial projects including:

  • Personnel facilities for the primary steel industry.
  • Laboratories for research and testing functions.
  • Maintenance buildings for heavy mobile equipment.
  • Office facilities.
  • Waste and recycling facilities.
  • Secondary manufacturing facilities and warehouses.
  • Substations and make up air stations.
  • Building retrofit for cranes and lifting equipment.
  • Power plants.

He has also undertaken a considerable number of rehabilitation projects involving waterproofing and restoration of underground parking garages, upgrade of curtain walls for high-rise buildings, fire safety systems and roofing replacements.

He has appeared as an expert witness concerning masonry problems and on various structural issues.
