Mr. King
brings several years experience and responsibility in a variety of
projects and industries.
His career began by serving a
full apprenticeship as a Millwright and Machinist in the steel industry in
the U.K. This was followed by some good, hands-on practical experience
both in the steel industry and with a company specializing in the
manufacture of heavy equipment for the non-ferrous casting sector.
During this time he completed his Co-op education gaining a Higher
National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering.
Mr. King returned to the steel
industry as a Mechanical Supervisor in the Ore Handling and Treatment
areas and after several successful years was offered the opportunity to
put this experience to further use, in Canada, at the Iron Ore Company of
Canada. After a few years in northern Canada he was offered the
chance to join a major recycling company in Southern Ontario where he
contributed to several upgrades in the areas of material handling and
processing of such diverse materials as cast iron, aluminum, iron and
steel by the use of innovative hydraulically driven equipment.
At this time Mr. King chose to
return to the U.K. where he worked for a world class aluminum company to
build, commission and eventually run Europe’s most modern aluminum
recycling and casting facility.
Returning to Canada in 1994
Mr. King became involved with one of the largest independent mechanical
project contractors, working in such diverse areas as:
The
re-design and re-build of specialized equipment for such industries as
tire manufacture and fiberglass production
Fabrication
and installation of European catalyst technology to deal with the products
of combustion in an energy from waste plant.
Management of a project to
build a hauled sewage handling plant for a local municipality as their
site representative, including responsibility for site health &
safety.
Clients engineering and site
representative on a project to design and construct a loading/unloading
ramp for a roll on - roll off ferry service. Ensuring adherence to all
applicable codes including health & safety.
Design, fabrication and
installation of material handling, continuous casting and processing
equipment, including pollution and environmental control equipment for a
major secondary aluminum producer.
Manage the generation of Pre
Start Health & Safety Reviews for a number of industrial clients in
the automotive, fabrication, industrial and other process related
sectors.
Managing a project to
refurbish and build a complete aluminum extrusion plant shipped from Japan
to Ontario, including upgrades to hydraulic drives, cylinders and controls
to provide conformance to newer standards.
